ABOUT . . . Terry Scott Allen

Biography

Terry Scott Allen picked up his first camera seven years ago to document his travels and interactions with family and friends. Not satisfied with the quality of his initial images, he enrolled in the Photography Departments at Palomar College and San Diego City College to learn more about film and digital photography as well as alternative photographic processes.

Terry is currently using small, medium and large format cameras to capture images in nature and nature in people. Blending exhibits of street photography, travel, and nature, his eye for light and composition creates extraordinary images of the everyday world.

Terry’s images are currently being shown at the San Dieguito Art Guild’s Off Track Gallery in Encinitas, California, the Del Mar Art Center in Del Mar, California, and the Luxe Gallery at San Diego City College in San Diego, California. He has also participated in exhibits at the Oceanside Art Gallery in Carlsbad, California and he is a member of the Oceanside Museum of Art Artist Guild and the San Diego Museum of Art Artist Guild.

Artist's Statement

I am a traveler. Sometimes I travel thousands of miles, sometimes only a few feet. I find patterns and incongruities whether they are in a cityscape or a landscape. I watch the ebb and flow of all that is around me, integrating the land and its people, catching what becomes my reality with a photograph.

My photography is a compilation of my impressions and memories of the places I have visited and the people I have met. My hope is that others travel with me, each with their own view and vision.
